Vibhishan Mela Kaithoon

Kaithoon is a town near Kota, which acquired fame for many reasons, Firstly the famous Kota Masuria fabric originated in this village and secondly the only temple devoted to Vibhishan younger brother of King Ravan of Lanka) is situated here. Every year in the month of March during Holi, a massive fair is held at Kaithoon. The high point of the week-long fair is the burning of an effigy of demon king 'Hiranyakashyap', which is performed with much fan-fare, orchestra parties and procession, On the following days of the fair cultural and folk programs are organised.

A rural fair is held at the fairground on the bank of Chandrabhaga River during Oct-Nov each year, The fair is very popular with local people and they gather in thousands to enjoy the festivities, Large number of domestic catle and horses are bought and sold during the fair. Devotees take holy dip in the river and take out colourful procession to release oil lamps in the river, In the failing light of the dusk the floating lamps look like thousands of stars floating in water.

Chandrabhaga Kartik Fair Jhalrapatan

A rural fair is held at the fairground on the bank of Chandrabhaga River during Oct-Nov each year, The fair is very popular with local people and they gather in thousands to enjoy the festivities, Large number of domestic catle and horses are bought and sold during the fair. The festival is organised every year to provide an exposure of local cultural life to the tourists. Colourful processions, fireworks, cultura| evenings are organised on the bank of Jaitsagar and Navalsagar lakes and in the ground of Garh palace. On the occasion of Teej festival in the month of Sept-Oct, a fair is organised in Rana Kumbha stadium.

Tribal Fair Sitabari

In the Saharia tribal rich area of Sitabari in Baran district, a fair is held in the summer months of May-June. Sitabari has many Kunds or small reseryoirs attributed to Sita, Laxman, Surya, Lay and Kush, and taking a holy dip in their water is considered auspicious during this period. The tribal woman bedecked with jewellery and attired in colourful dresses flock in the fairground. It is an ideal opportunity for a tourist to view the tribal life at close quarters.

It is a unique festival of colours, generally celebrated in the month of March after Holi at Songod, which situafed about 60 Km from Kota. The townsfolk and villagers from adioining areas gather and play with colours and dry coloured powder called 'Gulal'. The lilting tunes of folk music and bawdy songs may be heard until late in the night.
